Novation FLkey 2: The FL Studio Controller Just Got a Serious Upgrade
If you work in FL Studio, you know the feeling: you are deep in the flow, a melody is coming together, and then you break the momentum by clicking, scrolling, navigating. The original FLkey already changed that game. The new FLkey 2 takes the integration to a point where the controller and your DAW feel genuinely inseparable. Novation developed the FLkey 2 range in close collaboration with Image-Line, the makers of FL Studio, and the controller is officially supported by FL Studio itself. Four models, all refined on feel, control layout, and expressive capability.
Four Models, One Vision
The FLkey 2 range comes in four variants, each suited to a different working situation:
FLkey Mini 25 gives you two octaves of synth-action mini-keys. Compact and ready to go, ideal for producers with limited desk space or who work on the move.
FLkey 37 offers three full octaves of synth-action keys, pitch and mod wheels, plus knobs and faders for direct mix and parameter control.
FLkey 49 steps up to a semi-weighted keybed for a more piano-like playing feel, paired with faders for hands-on control over the FL Studio mixer.
FLkey 61 gives you the same semi-weighted keybed across five full octaves, a must if you want to play without constantly reaching for octave shift buttons.
What Is New in the Second Generation?
Semi-weighted Keys on the 49 and 61
The 49 and 61 models make the jump to semi-weighted keybeds, a significant step up from the synth-action of the previous generation. The added resistance and dynamic response make a real difference when playing chords, basslines, and melodies. Pianists and keyboard players who prefer a slightly heavier touch will notice it immediately.
Polyphonic Aftertouch on the Pads
The 16 velocity-sensitive RGB pads on all models now use Novation's patented FSR (Force Sensitive Resistor) technology for improved responsiveness and consistency. On the 37, 49, and 61 models, the pads also support polyphonic aftertouch: each pad responds individually to pressure changes after the initial hit. With instruments that support aftertouch, this opens up a whole new range of expressive possibilities for finger drumming and live playing.
New OLED Display
All FLkey 2 models feature a crisp OLED screen that shows key parameters, chord names, and other essential information directly on the controller. Less time glancing back at your monitor, more time staying in the creative zone.
Deeper FL Studio Integration
The second generation builds on the direct connection with FL Studio's Channel Rack, Step Sequencer, Mixer, and plugins including Sytrus and Harmor. New dedicated buttons give you quick access to looping, Score Log, undo/redo, and switching between Pattern and Song Mode. The previous Volume and Pan modes have been merged into a streamlined Channel Mixer and Mixer Mode, freeing up space for two new encoder modes: Transport Encoder Mode and Mixer Insert Mode.
Expanded Creative Tools
The built-in Scale Mode, Fixed Chord Mode, and Chord Map Mode have been expanded with a wider range of scale types and a full arpeggiator. The result is a controller that helps you stay in the creative flow without letting music theory slow you down.
What Is Included in the Box
Every FLkey 2 comes with six months of FL Studio Producer Edition, covering over one hundred built-in instruments and effects. On top of that, you get a bundle of more than twenty premium plugins from Novation, Native Instruments, Klevgrand, and other leading developers. Melodics lessons for finger drumming and keyboard skills are also included to help you get the most out of the hardware from day one.
